If you operate a yacht you will need a VHF Radio. It is an important piece of safety equipment and understanding how to use it correctly could save your life. It is essential on commercial rivers such as the Thames to know movement of traffic, and to inform the PLA of your intentions.
The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required to operate a VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel fitted with a radio whether its fixed or hand held.
